Sensors Unlimited, a part of Collins Aerospace, is the world’s leading manufacturer of indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs)-based imaging products. As renowned experts in shortwave infrared (SWIR) imaging, Sensors Unlimited, Inc. introduced the world to the concept of imaging in the shortwave IR spectrum with simple, compact, and uncooled cameras.

We offer a wide variety of InGaAs-based products, such as high performance, near-infrared (NIR) and SWIR cameras, and 1- and 2-dimensional focal plane arrays for use in military, aerospace, biomedical, commercial and industrial applications. Our in-house indium gallium arsenide III-V foundry features Class 100 clean rooms and an MOCVD epitaxial growth wafer fab, plus a 20,000 square foot detector manufacturing facility.

ADVANTAGES
The advanced InGaAs detector technology allows imaging in the SWIR without the necessity of an external cooling system. Other benefits of our proprietary sensor technology are low power consumption and the ability to image at high frame rates, a remarkable advantage over current uncooled microbolometer technology. Our NIR cameras deliver what thermal imagers cannot – clear, lifelike detection in daylight or lowlight. Small and compact, they operate at room temperature with no moving parts and can image through glass and plastic using off-the-shelf glass optics. Because our InGaAs cameras have non-uniformity corrections (NUCs) that last for the lifetime of the cameras, they do not need NUCs in the field, making operation simpler.

The non-ITAR, low-cost 320CSX InGaAs camera offers 320 x 356 pixel resolution, a 12.5µm pitch, and a 4.0mm x 3.2mm active area. The camera is very compact, with the OEM version measuring in at 31.8 x 30.6 x 30.2mm, and the enclosed version is 31.8 x 31.8 x 30.6mm. 

High Resolution InGaAs 60Hz SWIR Camera: 1280JSX High Resolution InGaAs 60Hz SWIR Camera: 1280JSX

There are currently two 1280JSX series of high resolution SWIR cameras for imaging and sensing applications. This version has a 30 Hz frame rate, while the one featured on this page has a 60 FPS full frame rate. It can be used in Driver Vision Enhancement (DVE) systems, in low-light level imaging applications, for covert surveillance in day or nighttime conditions, imaging through atmospheric obscurants, and for multi-laser spotting and tracking in military operations.

The GL2048R SWIR InGaAs linescan camera’s high resolution, stability, and reliability make it ideal for OCT applications studying blood flow or large tissue volumes at 1.04, 1.32, and 1.55 µm. It features a 2048 x 1 pixel array with a 10 µm pitch and high QE from 0.99 µm to 1.65 µm.

The 1280JS camera is lightweight (less than 120 grams or 4 ounces without lens) and compact (less than 4.5 cubic inches or 74 cubic centimeters), allowing for easy integration into aerial, mobile and hand-held imaging systems. It provides real-time daylight to low-light imaging (including partial moonlight) in the SWIR with high sensitivity in the 0.9 to 1.7 µm spectrum for persistent surveillance, laser detection, and penetration through fog, dust, and smoke.
