Laser Ablation Makes Automotive Interiors Shine

Laser ablation technology can be used to manufacture the controls that operate the climate and driver systems in today’s automobiles. However, residue from the removed coatings can cover the laser beam deliver optics, reducing the power of the laser beam and causing the etching process to fail. Beam power measurement needs to be implemented in order to have a stable etching process. This application note describes how JUNO, the F150A-BB-26 thermopile laser power sensor, and StarLab measurement software are used to know the status of the etching equipment in order to keep the beam power stable.
